Edit a Document in Word - Android

You can edit a document with the Word app through LINK on Android.

First, select a document by tapping on the iManage Work 10 tile. Go into My Matters, tap into a folder (and subfolder as needed), then select a document. We’ll use this General Partnership Agreement for our example.

Tap on the file to open it, then tap on the pencil in the menu bar. We are asked if we’d like to annotate a PDF copy or edit in Office for Android, that is edit using an office app like word, excel or PowerPoint. We’ll select the 2nd option.

Once it loads, you’ll see a green checkmark in the upper right corner. This is the indication that the document has been checked out for editing. Next it will automatically open in the Word app on the Android device.

When edits are complete, tap the back arrow in the upper left of the Word app to save.

Now tap the system home key and go back to the LINK App. We are immediately presented with a notification page asking to address the changes that were just made. The options are to discard the edits, ignore the notification, or upload the document. In this case we’ll select “upload” to check the document back in to the DMS.

We have the choice to create a new doc ID, new version, or replace it (i.e. overwrite). In this case we want to upload as a new version, so we leave the selection as is and tap the upload arrow button.

Here we have 2 verifications that the upload was successful - the green checkmark and the Success pop-up denote that the document has been checked in.

If we reopen the General Partner Agreement, we can see that the edit has been recorded. Simply use the system back key to return to the previous screen.
