Import an Attachment from Email to iManage

Import an Attachment from Email to iManage

Note: Your firm may elect to  use the Microsoft Outlook app with LINK. To do so, the firm IT department must make configurations in the LINK Controller. Contact Support for help with this configuration.

Here we’ll show how to import an attachment from an email into iManage when your firm has elected to use Outlook as your email app.

In the LINK app, tap on the second iManage tile. First you’ll notice that iManage in LINK has some features at the top level which you won’t see in iManage itself. We have Email folders, Inbox folders, and a Sent items folder.

From here, we’ll go into Inbox Attachments. Let’s say a client has sent me a document that I want to check into DMS. LINK makes it easy because we have all of your inbox attachments surfaced in iManage.

In this example, tap on the ellipsis menu to the right of the document name, and select “Copy File”.

Now LINK gives me an overlay on the right, with the locations in iManage where I can file this document, which came into me as an attachment to an email.

Tap My Matters, then tap the appropriate client matter and the desired folder within. Then finally, “Save Here”.

The screen now displays the Document Name (this can be changed in the New Name field), the Upload Destination, and Document Class.

The Document Class can be changed by tapping on the blue letters - you will see a selection of document classes in an overlay to the right.

Now, to check this document into iManage, simply tap the upload button.

The green check mark indicates that the document is checked in to the designated client matter.
