Compare an Attachment to a File in iManage
Note: Your firm may elect to use the Microsoft Outlook app with LINK. To do so, the firm IT department must make configurations in the LINK Controller. Contact Support for help with this configuration.
In LINK, you can compare an attachment to a file in iManage. In this example we’ll begin in the Sent Items folder.
From the Sent Items folder in your workspace, select a document (for example the Penn Mutual NDA). Tap the three dots menu to the right of the file name and select “versions and red lines”, then tap the down carrot. Finally tap “compare to”.
To compare this version from the Sent Items folder to a version in our DMS, tap on My Matters and search for the appropriate client matter.
As you narrow down the client matter, you can utilize search to pinpoint the file. In this example we’ll type “Penn” in the search field. From the list, select the desired file (Penn Mutual Rev D).
On the next screen, there are two options to consider. We can select to display red lines as tracked changes, or inline text. We can also reverse the order of the documents by tapping the recycle button. This changes the order as to which is the original (top) and which is the modified document (bottom).
To run the comparison, tap the check mark in the upper right. The comparison is displayed on the right-hand side.
Now to email this comparison, tap the envelope icon in the lower right.
We can choose “this page” or “full document” - in this example we’ll tap on “full document”.
The next screen shows the redlined document which will be sent via email. Finally, tap the paper airplane to send the comparison.
