Collaborate on Document Editing in Teams (with the Word App)
You can collaborate on editing a document in Teams with the Word App. Edits made in Teams can be readily saved to iManage. For example, you may send a file to a colleague through Teams with the intention of collaborating on edits in real time.
Go to a channel, and then the “files” tab, then select a document.
Tap on the 3 dots and select “share” to send this file to a colleague in a chat.
Select the recipient from the list and the chat populates with the document loaded. You can add a message indicating that you’d like to edit this document with your colleague. After sending the message, tap on the 3 dots in the bottom right corner of the file.
Select “open in app” to open the document for editing in the appropriate Office app, for instance Word. Your colleague will do the same.
The document now displays in Word – from here you can turn on tracked changes and begin editing the document.
As both of you make edits in the Word App, they are being auto saved to the document in the Teams channel, which is mirrored to the Teams folder in LINK. Edits can be applied from both editors simultaneously.
Once edits are completed, tap the back carrot in the upper left corner of the document. This will exit you from Word in your Office app.
Now return to the LINK App and tap into your iManage application. Tap on the Teams folder and open the channel that contains the document just edited.
When you open the document, the tracked changes are shown and further action can be taken.
To import this document to iManage, from the open document, tap the Upload button in the lower right. Select iManage Work 10 from the list, then select the preferred Workspace and folder.
Tap the upload button to complete the upload. A green checkmark and pop-up will appear to confirm the upload was successful.
